Join our Ghost Stories of the South Brisbane Cemetery guides by torchlight, for a nocturnal walk gothic headstones of this grand old Victorian-era cemetery – and discover the fascinating folklore of local ghost stories circulated amongst neighbouring residents and grave-side visitors alike for generations. Strap yourselves in for some eerie, old-timer tales, including:
- The Spectral Flower Girl
- The mysterious Soldier
- Strange dancing lights and unexplainable shadow-figures
- South Brisbane Cemetery’s renowned “Lady in Black”
- The truth about some of the more dubious tales of South Brisbane Cemetery’s “ghosts”
This is a great way to safely see the cemetery at night. Your friendly guides are cemetery historian Tracey Olivieri, paranormal historian Liam Baker, and (sceptical) professional historian Chris Dawson, who will tell the stories from a range of perspectives. They will be more than happy to chat with you and answer your questions during the tour.
Ghost Stories of the South Brisbane Cemetery is part of the ‘Queensland Cemetery History Tours’ range – Brisbane’s best and most affordable cemetery night tours.
All of our tours are not-for-profit, with all money raised going to our cemetery history and maintenance projects.

Prices
- Single bookings: $20 per person/$15 per concession.
- FOSBC & Coffin Club members: $10 per member.
- Group bookings (four or more people): $15 per person.

Walking difficulty
- Moderate (Grade 3) – Please be aware, given the aging nature of the cemetery, this tour involves walking [slowly] up hills predominantly over generally modified terrain [hardened earth, less than 1200mm wide], mostly clear of intrusions & obstacles. Please advise us of any relevant medical concerns prior to attending the tour.
Duration
- 2 – 2½ hours [tour times can vary, depending on levels of customer interaction during the tour].
Age level
- This tour is suitable for ages 12 years and up – it contains supernatural, murder & suicide themes.
Private and Easy Access Tours
We can organise a Private Tour just for your own group of friends. We also run Easy Access tours for groups with mobility issues. You can select any available tour type you want. Minimum cost is $225 for up to 15 people (extra people $15 per person).
All of our tours are run by the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery (Inc.) in partnership with the Boggo Road Gaol Historical Society, under license from the Brisbane City Council.
