What is a 'Gruesome Graveyards' tour? 
You will be guided around South Brisbane Cemetery at night by two highly-knowledgeable tour hosts who will share some macabre (and true) stories from Queensland cemetery history with you. No costumes, no scripts, and you will be able to chat with us and ask questions. And we will answer you like normal people. These are not ‘ghost tours’.  
And all our tours are not-for-profit. 
No two tours are quite the same, and include stories about grave robbing, hangings, superstitions, bubonic plague and burial practices. And we might throw in a few ghost stories if you want some. We believe tours should respect your intelligence with real stories and give value for money.

Who are the guides? Tracey is the leading historian of the cemetery, and was brought up in the local area and has known stories of the cemetery for 40 years - including a few spooky ones. Chris is a professional historian (capital punishment a speciality) and a skeptic (a real one, not one of those TV ghost-hunting pretend ones). They are on the committees of numerous community groups – including the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery.

Please note: The Brisbane City Council restrict night access to BCC cemeteries and our tours are conducted under license.
Tour numbers are restricted to 25 persons. This tour is suitable for people aged 14+.

$15 per head ($10.00 concession card holders and children aged 8-16)

Up to six family members = $50 (saving around 30%)

Pre-paid Group discount 
If you can guarantee at least 15 people, a discount price of $10 per head applies. A $150 pre-paid deposit is required. 
This deposit will be refunded minus a $10 administration fee in the event of your group cancelling before seven days or more of the scheduled tour. A 75% refund will be paid if your group cancels within seven days of the scheduled tour. We will retain full payment in the case of the full 15 group members not attending the event.
Group size

In all cases, please pre-pay in order to ensure a place on the tour. We can accept payment on the night, but all such attendees must pre-book. In cases of high demand, priority in filling available tour places will be given to pre-paying customers.

Tour attendees are requested to bring a medium-sized torch for the tour. We can provide a small number of torches for a $2 hire fee. These torches are to be returned to staff at the end of the tour.
